Happy Easter!

A little bit ago when the weather was starting to get nice, well we had a few nice days in between some cold ones. I had a thought come into my head about Spring. How much of a miracle it is! I love this time of the year because to me its all about hope! The hope that Spring will come after winter. That the trees and flowers will bloom. The birds will come back and chirp again. That the grass will turn green from brown. That the world will transform and come alive again in all of its beauty.

This is symbolism for exactly what we celebrate at Easter! The Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. He died on the cross but lives again! The knowledge that we have of this gives me hope for everything in the future. There is a purpose and importance to everything we do in this life.
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we are Christians , and believe in the living Christ. The reason we do not use the cross as a symbol of our religion is because we celebrate the Living Christ. We remember his suffering and all that he did for us. But the way we live our lives in accordance to his laws and teachings is a symbol of our religion.

Spring is a symbol of the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. I love this time of year to remember this! To find HOPE! and enjoy the beauty of this earth. Knowing that it was created for us by a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

I hope you take the time to enjoy the beauty of this time of year and remember the real meaning of Easter. and enjoy the fun traditions too because that is fun too! Happy Easter everyone! :D

Wonderful Wednesday..Sort of...

Today started out like a fine Wednesday. I slept fairly well last night, got to cuddle a little in bed before having to get out. Had enough time to get ready. Did well on my test. I was fine!

But then things turned not so wonderful....when I started thinking about math. In order to graduate I have to finish 3 math classes. In order to get there I have to pass a math placement exam. In order to do that, I have to understand math. Unfortunately I don't. At all. Not even the basics hardly. It's just not my thing. But it needs to be, starting now, if i'm ever gonna graduate college.
Fortunately, Scott is good at math and can help me. Unfortunately it tests both of our patience's and that's not a good thing.
I've GOT TO change my attitude about it, buckle down and get it done. Time is running out and I can't procrastinate anymore.
It is necessary that I change my attitude from HATE to contempt. I don't have to like math, I just have to change my attitude about it until its all said and done. (we already decided Scott will be the one to help the kids with math homework)

You're probably thinking, "what does this have to do with a Wonderful Wednesday post, this doesn't sound wonderful at all!?" Well the wonderful part is me making a decision and conscious effort to change my attitude. Its a big step for me! The words "I hate math, I can't do this, this is stupid and i'm stupid for not knowing this stuff and its a waste of time, I'll never use it again" will not from this point on exit my mouth. Nor will I be a "butt head" when getting help with my math. I can't promise I won't cry in frustration (saying I wouldn't, is like saying I will never go to the bathroom again, its a natural, needed thing that I just can't live without!)  But change is necessary for success. Graduation is necessary to get a good job. A good job is necessary to get us through Scott's schooling.....It all builds upon itself. It's a lot of pressure and I definitely feel it everyday.
I will use the pressure to my advantage though. Just like pressure is needed in the process of making diamonds, its important. And by the end I'll  practically be a diamond for completing this fete. So wish me luck. It all starts today.

No more of this...
I CAN DO THIS and I WILL DO THIS!!

Indoor Camping Date Night

I really wanted to do something fun and new for our date night this week. We often turn to going out to dinner and then watch a movie, play games or something like that because its simple and easy. Its always fun of course but we needed something new. My sister had done this with her husband and she said it was a blast so I thought we would try it out! We both love camping but its not the best weather yet for good camping....so we did what we could inside!

We built a fort for our tent in our little apartment using our couch and kitchen chairs... The blankets hung a little low, resulting in frizzy, out of control hair for me! To get us in the mood we turned out most of the lights and found two hours of "nature sounds" on youtube. The crackle of the camp fire, crickets, an owls "who who" and a wolf's howl put us in the perfect mood. Scott got really into this which made it so much more fun! Talking about the "bears" and how chilly it was "outside".

For dinner we had Tin Foil Dinners (in the oven). Both of us had to be somewhere at 5 and wouldn't be home till around 9. So we stuck them in the oven at 200 degrees for four hours, hoping that we would come back to an unburned dinner and house! But instead we came home to an unburned house (thank goodness) and an undone dinner (not so good). The potatoes and carrots were not done at all! Dang those things cook like rocks! While we waited for dinner we decided to have our treats first. Thats how we do things around here. So we made smore's with the stove. We used somoa coconut cookies as the crust, which is so tasty! If you haven't ever tried that, you definitily should!

In the dark to make it even more real! (but we decided the pictures were a little too creepy like that)
^^Instead the flash just gave us instant glaucoma. ouch. :/ ^^

We ate our tin foil dinners in our fort/tent while we listened to an online recording of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn".

I felt like a kid again, and that's a good feeling when your a serious adult for too long. It seriously was so much fun! It helped me to forget about the snow on the ground outside with the winter weather in March and got me excited for summer!

If you need a new date night idea, do this, I promise you won't be dissapointed. ;) And we're always looking for new, cheap, fun ideas so do share please!! :D

Spring Break (Part 2)

The rest of our break was spent in St. George! The sun and warm weather was so perfect! We went down there to watch a baseball tournament for Scott's youngest brother Caleb playing with the Bandits comp team.

 ^^some warm up throws^^
^^We had this view pretty much the whole time^^
^^and this view... of this stud^^

In between we had the chance to do some shopping!!! :D and we went on an adventure to Red Cliffs Recreation Area. The combination of red rocks and emerald green water were gorgeous! Unfortunately we didn't come prepare with our swimming suits or else we would have been in the water for sure!

^^ this pool was about 8 to 10 ft deep^^

^^ he found a hole in the ground and HAD to climb down it^^

And the day wouldn't be complete (for the boys) without catching a lizard..and wearing it!

...while sleeping...

The house we stayed at had the most gorgeous view! That was my favorite spot in the whole house.
^^

We had a ton of fun and were so glad we got to go! The warm weather and change of scenery was just what we needed! Thanks for the break Spring, we sure do love ya! Now if Logan could just jump on the band wagon with St. George weather, we'd be set!!

Spring Break! (part 1)

Spring Break this year was great!!! It started with some fun dates and time spent together here in Logan. Then we packed our bags for both snow and warm weather and hit the road!

Our first adventure was SNOWBOARDING up at Canyons Resort in Park City. I can't even tell you how excited Scott was! For days he anticipated it and then the day of we got up early and started getting ready. It was like Christmas morning in March! Scott loves snowboarding but hasn't been for a long time, so he was pumped! It was my first time so to say I was a bit nervous is a slight understatement. Looking up at the steep slopes got my heart beatin' that's for sure!

We hit the slopes with Scott's theory that you learn best by just doing it. Well, I need a little bit of an explanation first to get me on the right track. But of course we started on a fairly difficult track and I struggled the whole way. I think it was because there was a cliff on one side that my board relentlessly gravitated to! I would stand up, start to go, then fall because I got too close to the edge and couldn't stop! It was rough.

After that run, we decided that him going in front of me and holding my hands helped me to keep my balance and get use to the way the board moves! He was such a good teacher and so patient with me! After some tender coaching, serious bum soreness, and frustration on my part...I finally made it down the mountain all by myself! I did the same run a few times and felt like I was getting the hang of it! While Scott and cousin Dan hit up some serious slopes, I stayed at the bunny hill to practice a little more. The snow was slush, which made it slightly difficult. And of course the day wouldn't be complete without a wipe out...or two. So besides the million times I fell on my bum, I face planted it twice. Not just a catch myself halfway, that was close, kind of thing but like a caught of guard, no time to save yourself, kind of face plant. Instant headache.

Scott got to do some intense, adrenaline runs which made him pretty happy! and me too because I know how much he loves it! He also managed to get a nasty bad sunburn!! But overall it was such a fun day! I wish we could go more often, but that might come a few more years down the road!

The rest of the adventures will be coming soon! So get excited! :D

walks, strolls...i've heard it both ways!

The weather was nice enough for us to take a walk on Sunday afternoon! Apparantly we weren't the only ones with the good idea, because, everyone and their dog was out too! We just happened to walk in the direction of the Logan Temple, which ended up being about a 3 mile walk! It felt so good!

While walking we played a game that Scott and his brother Paul made up, with inspiration from the TV show Psych. I don't know the real name so we'll just call it "Stop, and close your eyes". Which pretty much sums up the game! One person will randomly say "stop, close your eyes"and then proceed to ask a question like, "in that group of kids walking on the other side of the street, how many were girls and how many were boys?" Or ,"what was the color of the boy's jacket in the group?" The point is to be observant to the details of your surrounding. It's kind of like eye spy...in a way!

I serisouly love walks so much! So we went on another walk today in the canyon. It was a little chillier than yesterday but it still felt good to get out!

Today our game was "animal points". Birds were 1 point, fish were 3 points, deer were 5 points, and bugs were a half a point. If you saw a bear you won the game automatically, and if you saw a moose you won the game for a month! Scott saw some ducks, a fish, lots of bugs, and 2 deer. So.....he won!! But i'll have you know I have spotted two big bucks in the past little while so along with the points I earned today, I'd say I'm the real winner!

But really all I have to say, whether or not you see animals or hooligan children walking the streets, walks are great. And we love them! Its probably on of our favorite activites that we do.

Wonderful Wednesday

Today is going to be a long day...like most Wednesday but I try not to complain about them. Hense the reason I post good things on such a day!

I have a night class on Wednesdays from 5:15 to 7:45. Which normally wouldn't be too horribly bad but since I work all day till 5 by the time class starts, I'm already tired and tuned out! Its pretty dry and hard to sit through. But good news! I've learned a few new beneficial things for life in that class.... but best of all, the class ends at the end of March! I'm almost there.

To counter balance the difficulty of my night class, I'm gonna hit up the gym after. I started a new workout plan found here that I love. It gets my heart pumping, blood moving, and endorphin's firing. It feels so good to work out!

The gym, along with yummy food, possibly treats, cuddling with my man, and some Psych helps me get through Wednesdays!!

Also good music, which always helps! I made a list of just a few songs that we have been loving lately!
They play quite frequently when we are both home...
1."If I Lose Myself" by Collin McLoughlin
2. "when can i see you again" by Owl City
3. "pennybags" by Tyler Ward
4. "Count On Me" by Matt Kearney
5. "Stop Time"  by Landon Austin

Welcome Home!!

I had some extra burlap from our wedding and our front door was needing some love, so I decided to make a burlap wreath! I had a few ideas from Pinterest that I followed. It was super fast and easy and I love it! It totally makes me happy every time I walk up to our apartment and see it! Although, i'm not quite sure how I like the flower on it, I'll have to work on that! I wanted some extra color but I couldnt figure out where to place it, or if it needs a few more to make it look better... Any suggestions?? But here it is (for now)...

Life Long Bucket List

Last week when we were home, we had a mini family home evening with the Wuthrich's on Sunday night before we drove back up to Logan. My mother in law gave an awesome lesson. The one things that really hit me was, making goals. But this wasn't just an average look at goals, because yes we know the benefits, yes we know we should make them. It was a different look at them. We were challenged to make a list of at least 1,000 goals for life. Think of everything you want to accomplish in life. This includes both big and little things. This helps you to have an idea of what you want your life to look like, what you want to accomplish, how you want to be, what you want to be remember for...all of that! If you don't know what you want to do, you'll never accomplish much of anything! So lay it all out!

And here is an example of what I mean....this is part of my Life Long Bucket List.

graduate college with a Bachelors Degree
be a happy person
have a clean, organized home
master chocolate chip cookies
go skydiving
have a successful eternal marriage
run a half marathon
serve
serve a couples mission with Scott
always remember to laugh
adequately save for retirement
learn photography skills
photo document my life and my family
become a Zumba teacher
decorate the house I've always imagined
have happy healthy children
live in a comfortable home
host Thanksgiving for extended family in my home
learn how to play the guitar
keep strong relationships with my family
write a rap as good as my husband can
make a quilt
learn how to cook something new
do a month without sugar (that would be hard for me, that's why its a goal ;) )
go to Italy
ride a beach cruiser across the Golden Gate Bridge
go cliff jumping in Hawaii

It can be kinda hard to think of so many but just think of everything big or small!! Give yourself lots of options and things to do! Try it! Its kind of fun! Tell me some of your goals! I'd love to hear!
