13 Weeks...(a week late)

I'm sure for most of you this may be a boring post, or sound like I'm being "Complaining Jane" over here, and for that, I am sorry! But this blog is a journal for us and i'm just updating on how pregnancy life has been thus far. It is so different for everyone. I know it could be a lot worse and even a lot better for me than it has been for many others. But again...its just a record for us.

Well this pregnancy thing, it hasn't been easy thus far, that is for sure. I have had a healthy dose of nausea and fatique. We found out that I was pregnant when I was about 5 weeks along. The random people that I would meet and tell (cuz I knew I would never see them again and I was sooo excited I couldnt hold it in) would always ask, "are you sick yet?" At that point I could say "No, not at all! I feel great!!!" Well that didn't last long because about a week later it hit me like a ton of bricks. Thank goodness the doctor had already given me a prescription for Zofran. So that morning, Scott ran to the store and picked it up, along with a few other things I needed. Since week 6, it has been the exact same situation. The Zofran, along with eating a lot, became a life saver. I couldn't function without it! Well at about week 10, it stopped working. :( But after it stopped working and I stopped taking it, I could finally go to the bathroom with ease. "Ah, finally" TMI, but that wasn't fun either!! I guess you just gotta pick your poison and decide which is worse.

Most days, if I keep my tummy full (which means eating every 1 to 1 1/2 hours) i'm fine. Every once in a while, that doesn't even help. I have thrown up quite a bit. After about 4 times I stopped counting.

Here is a break down of what eating has been like....as far as likes and dislikes.

Pregnancy Dislikes:

the smell and taste of Panda Express....gross. I didn't like Chinese food before...but now I REALLY don't like Chinese food.
Olives
Sweets...which is weird cuz normally I have a sweet tooth like constantly. But now, not so much.
Lunch Meat: I know, I know. Its dangerous and a "No-No" for pregnant women....I heat it up before I eat it. Well the one time that I tried it. But it wasn't hitting the spot, which maybe is a good thing.
Yogurt: I liked it until it came right back up after I ate it..now, not so much.
Pineapple and Mangos: same situation as the yogurt.
(its the worst when your favorites are ruined by throwing them up. sick.

Pregnancy Likes:

Cereal...lots and lots of it.
Top Ramen
Salty foods
Mexican Food (specifically from a local restaurant, El Toro Viejo)
For most of the first trimester I liked eating salad and veggies. I still like them but I dont crave them as much. and I am a little more picky with salad (its gotta be so fresh or else its hard for me to eat)

Cravings:
There isn't one thing that I crave all the time, but every once in a while I smell something good and I want it. That has happened with french fries, pizza, and popcorn mostly. I have always been a pizza fan so that's understandable. French fries, I don't eat often at all...so that one is a little odd. I have eaten all of those things once and haven't craved them since. Lately nothing sounds good.

Sounds like I am not really scoring and A+ in the healthy eating section. Just because they are "likes and cravings" doesn't mean I eat them all the time. In fact, I have tried really hard to eat well. I still eat my fruits, veggies and whole grains. And a feat for me...cutting back a ton on my sugar intake! (without even craving it) whoot whoot!

I have just one more week in the first trimester and I am praying and hoping that the nausea and fatique go along with it. For most women, that is the case. For some, it isn't. I hope it is for me. It is hard I tell ya. Pregnancy isn't for sissy's.

Scott has been such a WONDERFUL support for me. He even comes and rubs my back and sits (kind of) by me, as close as he can get, when I am throwing up. I know thats not fun for him but I am so grateful to know that he is right there by me to help me. He'll wake up early to get me a bowl of cereal when I feel nauseous and then patiently try to sleep while I sit there and eat it. He has picked up the slack around the house, especially the dishes. I love that man so much. I definately could not do this alone. Thanks babe ;)

As far as we know, our baby is growing and developing perfectly!! We pray that he/she will continue to do so! We love you baby Wuthrich!! All of this is definitely worth it, knowing that we will get to meet you and love you in real life in less than 6 more months!! :) You just keep on growing and developing, even if it makes me sick. ;)

And then there were 3...

We have some WONDERFUL news that we are soooo excited to finally share!! Our little family is growing from 2 to 3 in February 2014!!!
There is a bun in the oven!

On June 11, 2013 at the doctors office I found out this great news! Among lots of other questions, a common one asked is, "Were you expecting it?"
Well...yes and no and here is why....
Scott and I had been talking about it and praying about it for some time, wondering when the right time was for us. After reading some good talks given from Apostles and Prophets from our church, we decided that there shouldn't be anything that was stopping us from starting our family, such as finances, school, work and whatever else. As we continued to pray, asking if this was the right time for us we decided that we needed to go off of birth control. So you'd think "alrighty dummy, mother nature is playing now, there is nothing to stop it!"
Well here is where the "unexpected" part comes into play. We didn't expect it to be SO quick. I should have, considering that is kind of the trend in my family amongst my mom and sisters. But I had talked to so many others that had been trying for so long...so I expected it to take a little bit of time. But that wasn't the case at all for us.
I went to the docotor's office for something unrelated (I thought) but a pregnancy test was done and came back positive.
Scott was not with me because he had to work and we thought this was just a normal check up. When the doctor told me, I started crying! Which is slightly embarrassing when its in front of a complete stranger. She asked if I was happy and through my tears I managed to mumble, "Yes, I'm so happy!!"
She responded, "Well thats good, cuz you are definately pregnant"
I was going to try and wait till Father's Day (because how perfect! seriously!) which was only a few days away. BUT Scott totally called me out on it before I even got home. Who knows how he knew...he just did I guess! haha
We are both so happy and excited!!
That night it was off to one of our favorite restaraunts to celebrate, El Toro Viejo. Which despite the spicy-ness has still proven intself during the first trimester of pregnancy! Which is saying much because other things have not been so lucky. I crave it every once in a while which is fine by me!

Another common question that is asked is, "Do you want to have a boy or girl?"
Well obviously we would love and adore either, whatever the gender, you can bet your bottom dollar he/she is going to be loved beyond belief by us!!!!
But if we had a say in this, I think we are both rooting for a boy.
It seems natural in my opinion for the oldest to be a boy..to be the oldest brother, the example setter,  and the protecter! Maybe its because my oldest siblings are brothers and Scott is the oldest of his family. Its what I know.
But Scott heard this the other day that made him lean towards a girl....
The girl could be of more help with the caring for other siblings, like changing diapers and babysitting. But hey I think boys can do that too. In fact they should learn all that stuff for when they are dad's someday. My brothers changed my diapers! Scott got lucky and has NEVER changed a diaper in his life. Thats gonna change REAL soon!

I took one of those silly quizes the other day to predict the gender...
It said its a boy!

I guess we will have to wait 8 more weeks to really find out!

HAPPY JULY

July is my favorite month of the whole year! I love it!! It holds my second favorite holiday, my birthday, lots of sun, swimming, popsicles, snowcones, camping, grilling, no school...all the summer goods! We wont be out of town on the 4th but we will be the weekend after that! I cant wait to spend time with familly, especially on my birthday! Now all i've got to do is make it to thursday and I am home free, baby!!

On another note, life has be C.R.A.Z.Y. lately. Which explains my blogging absence. We have been on the go or at work pretty much all day, everyday. And if we aren't going, we are sleeping from tiredness and exaustion. To give you some perspective...I finished 70 hours of practicum and about 15 hours at work in one week!!!!!! (granted we were at a camp for 3 days but that was so tiring) It has been one busy summer, which we knew it would be. Again, thats why we are so excited for this weekend! To get away, have some fun, see family, and relax!!

Yesterday we had a wonderful realization, after church, we didnt have to do any work, go anywhere, or worry about anything! Oh was it wonderful! It made us both so grateful for Sunday, finally a day of rest!! It was muchly needed.
